In Lucknow, as in other parts of the world, graves mean little to some people, but a search on the internet proves otherwise! What one will find on this blog isn't even 'a drop in the vast ocean' of tears that would have been shed if it were possible to calculate. The names, the sad poetry, quotes and expression of grief of the loved ones all being ground to dust. "...We always say that the history of a parish is in its graveyards..." Hi George,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely snap of Helen and Derek -- I have fond memories of them, particularly Helen. The Bells were our neighbours in Lucknow for years and we went to Helen and Derek's wedding in Christ Church. I also went to her funeral in Delhi in March 1990, just before leaving the country for Singapore. At the funeral, I met Uncle Kenny and Aunty Dolly after years -- also Brenda, but not Sherlyn -- any idea where she is? Derek too seems to have died young -- hope the poor kids have a happy life now.
Once again, thanks for maintaining this blog.
Best,
Glenda
Hi Glenda,
DeleteThough I'm not regular in looking for comments but it does feel good to know that my endeavours are appreciated.
The sad news is that Sherlyn lost her husband about a month ago and Brenda's only son died four or five years ago in Pune.
I guess you might be knowing that Warren is married to my elder daughter, Fiona which is how I have this information. Michelle is married to Chicken's son, Colin. Warren has joined the boys Martiniere as Estate Officer, while Fiona teaches in GD Goenka School and Michelle works for UNDP(?) while Colin is with one of the embassies.
Good to know you take time out to see my blog!
Regards
George
