In Lucknow, as in other parts of the world, graves mean little to some people, but a search on the internet proves otherwise! What one will find on this blog isn't even 'a drop in the vast ocean' of tears that would have been shed if it were possible to calculate. The names, the sad poetry, quotes and expression of grief of the loved ones all being ground to dust. "...We always say that the history of a parish is in its graveyards..." Passage West (from a blog and book by Jim Murphy)

ReplyDeleteGunner Henry Williams could have been buried at Residency or Nishatgarj Cemetary too. But I do think it is this one since it was the military cemetary. ANY help would be appreciated!!! Randy & Sandy, currytoys@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteGeorge Shepard, Can you help me?
ReplyDeleteI found out TODAY from the British Library that Henry Williams is indeed buried here. Now if I could only get a picture of his grave stone.

ReplyDeleteHi Randy,
Sorry, I've just seen your request while viewing my blog. I shall try and locate it but cannot guarantee anything and you'll know why if you've taken a look at my blog. The Bandariabagh Cemetery is know as the Cantonment cemetery because all forces burials took place here.
