The Nishatganj Cemetery, Lucknow

The black line running between the road and the west wall of the cemetery  is a railway track that at one time supplied material to the Paper Mill situated near the River Gomti. The mill closed down many years ago while the tall silvery funnel that could be spotted for miles around stood silently for several years after the closure. Having been dwarfed by the tall office and residential blocks that came up one didn't even notice when it was brought down. Its time was over! The siren that carried far and wide and told people when it was 7.45 am then 8 am would have been absorbed by the noise and chaos of today.
