MARION D'CRUZ WIDOW OF LIONEL D'CRUZ DIED 11 DEC 2018 ** PHILOMENA D'CRUZ WIDOW OF ALLAN D'CRUZ DIED 1 APRIL 2018 |
In Lucknow, as in other parts of the world, graves mean little to some people, but a search on the internet proves otherwise! What one will find on this blog isn't even 'a drop in the vast ocean' of tears that would have been shed if it were possible to calculate. The names, the sad poetry, quotes and expression of grief of the loved ones all being ground to dust. "...We always say that the history of a parish is in its graveyards..." Passage West (from a blog and book by Jim Murphy)

Hi George,
ReplyDeleteAre these relatives of Mr Tony de'Cruz, who was a friend of my dad's and lived in Lalbagh in the late 60s? I recall that he had two sons and four or five daughters. Was one son Bernie de'Cruz, who died quite young?
Regards,
Glenda
HI Glenda,
ReplyDeleteYes, the same, Allan was the youngest son. Lionel, the eldest, died a few years ago. He settled in Gonda after retiring from the railway. I'm married to Audrey.
Are you in Pune?
Regards
George
Hi George,
ReplyDeleteAudrey is one of the sisters? I knew them slightly all those years ago. Does she remember me at all?
Yes, I'm back in Pune, as of a few days ago. Please tell your son-in-law, Warren, that I visited his mother's grave last week, when I went to York Cemetery, Delhi, to see my mother's grave. I was at Helen's funeral in March 1990.
You enquired after Cheryl Lawlor, Mrs King's granddaughter -- she's coming with her husband to spend Christmas with us here.
Why don't you and Audrey come and visit us in Pune? It's quite a nice place. The Myalls will also be here for Christmas, with their daughter Nicole and family.
Regards,
Glenda

ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry I forgot to ask you to convey my condolences to Audrey on the passing of her brother, who must have been quite young.
Regards,
Glenda
Hi Glenda,
ReplyDeleteYes, Audrey remembers you, time has passed so swiftly there was no time to forget! I'll convey your condolences to her and tell Warren that you remembered his mother.
Just yesterday I came across Herbert King on FB and sent him a request. It will be good to know how he is getting on. I have had information about him in recent years from John Cline.
So it is good to know you will be spending time over Christmas with Lucknow people!
Regards,
George
