Aunt Minnie Towning 1901-1980

Minnie was the sister of Dr Ernest Towning,

Maj Herbert Towning and 

Alfred Towning. 

I am unaware

of any other siblings.

The family decades earlier 

lived in 

Hilton Lane opposite 

the Larkins family 

and at one 

time at La Martiniere College

as their father was the Sergt Supdt 

(grub sergeant). Major Towning after

retiring from the Indian Army spent 

six years as the grub sergeant like his father.

Alfred Towning lived in Allahabad and worked

for the electric supply. Ernest and Minnie

later lived at 11 Outram Road where Ernest

died in 1958. He was buried in the Bandaryabagh Cem.

where his parents were als laid to rest. I have failed

to find their graves though many years ago

I had seen Ernest's grave. Maj T and his

wife, Lorna (nee Hanby) followed their children

to the UK where he died in 1979. Lorna died

in 2007, according to grandson Arun Srivastava
