Callender family graves, Gorakhpur

Callender family graves, Basharatpur,
Gorakhpur

*
I visited this cemetery about 20 years
ago and I think it was in much better
condition. It is hard to understand given
the fact that it is as Christian a locality
one can find around here today. The
cemetery has a boundary wall with a gate and,
unlike in the Lucknow cemeteries, where
garbage is thrown inside by the people living
around the cemetery, here I noticed
it does not happen. So what is the problem
at this cemetery?
Like in Lucknow in October after the rainy
season is over, the long grass and shrubs
are cut but only a portion is carried off
by poor people to burn at home. The remaining
is burnt where it lies. This also happens in Lucknow!
Then one can expect to see plenty of ash around
and blackened graves.
Candle and agarbatti  aka joss or
insense sticks in abundance is used on the graves
during funerals and All Souls Day and the packets
are left strewn around. This also happens in Lucknow!
So who is to blame for the bad conditions at
in any of our cemeteries?
