In Lucknow, as in other parts of the world, graves mean little to some people, but a search on the internet proves otherwise! What one will find on this blog isn't even 'a drop in the vast ocean' of tears that would have been shed if it were possible to calculate. The names, the sad poetry, quotes and expression of grief of the loved ones all being ground to dust. "...We always say that the history of a parish is in its graveyards..." Passage West (from a blog and book by Jim Murphy)
Hi George,
ReplyDeleteIsn't this quite rare? I thought most nuns were buried in the convent -- there's a small cemetery in Loreto Lucknow, near the grotto. I've been to a few funerals there, as a student.

Glenda

ReplyDeleteHI Glenda,
DeleteI was surprise when I came across the grave. I want to visit the Loreto Cemetery. Besides seeing the names I'd like to know when it started. Was it post-1947? Did nuns and priest before that go back home after retirement? Good to know you are still visiting my blog!
Regards
George
