Author John Collinson Nesfield
was in Lucknow etc., during
1875-91:English Grammar: Past and Present, A Junior Course in English Composition, A Senior Course in English Composition, but it was his A Manual of English Grammar and Composition that proved successful both in Britain and her Colonies, forming the basis for Warriner's English and Wren and Martin, according to Wiki on the net.

NESFIELD John Collinson MA late Educn Dept NW Prov and Oudh Educ at Merton Coll Oxford from 22nd Jan 1867 served in Bengal as Profr Krishnagarh coll and at presidency coll from May 1872 served in Lower Burma as dir of public instrn... transferred to Oudh March 1874 as dir of public instrn principal Benaras coll.
He wrote essays on the Kanjar Tribe 1882 and Mushera Tribe 1888.
