In Lucknow, as in other parts of the world, graves mean little to some people, but a search on the internet proves otherwise! What one will find on this blog isn't even 'a drop in the vast ocean' of tears that would have been shed if it were possible to calculate. names: Ronald Greg and Colin Richard. The
other brothers, Robin and Dudley also studied
in La Martiniere College, Lucknow as did their
father, Colin William Laing before them. The brothers
served in the British Army (Regular) during WWII
and brother Ron continued to play hockey in Perth
well into his 70's. Colin (Jr) had also represented
the Punjab XI while in Amritsar.
A 1940 newspaper article carrying the
results of the Hafeez Memorial (hockey) Cup,
a tournament played in Lucknow.

Residency Cem: What else lies buried here!
The pics are of an area of
the Residency Cemetery
that was inaccessible for decades because of the thick undergrowth.
I cannot remember walking here ever. Seeing that the
headstones are buried deep
one can guess that this
area was used to dump
debris that was cleared
from around the ruins
decades ago. That makes one
wonder what else lies buried
here!!
