In Memory of
JESSIE NUNDY
WIDOW OF THE
LATE GOPEENAUTH NUNDY
OF FUTEHPORE
DIED 19TH JANUARY 1865
AGED 45 YEARS
*
THIS TOMB IS PLACED IN
AFFECTIONATE REMEMBRANCE
BY HER FIVE SORROWING CHILDREN
Thy will be done
*
(FIBIS: While checking the surname Nundy I came across
E. Nundy and Alf. Nundy both 1865 and George Nundy 1870.
Then there was Fred Nundy, translator 1865, all connected with
La Martiniere College, Lucknow. I also came across the name
of the cemetery: Chiria Gil Cemetery, a burial ground on Olliver Road renamed
Sapru Marg, that was in use for a little more than a decade after the 1857 Mutiny.
The trans-Gomti Nishatganj Cemetery with more space would have opened in
the mean while owing to more space available.)
