In Lucknow, as in other parts of the world, graves mean little to some people, but a search on the internet proves otherwise! What one will find on this blog isn't even 'a drop in the vast ocean' of tears that would have been shed if it were possible to calculate. The names, the sad poetry, quotes and expression of grief of the loved ones all being ground to dust. "...We always say that the history of a parish is in its graveyards..." Passage West (from a blog and book by Jim Murphy)

ReplyDeleteMy auntie Sheilagh. I remember her passing very well and I was so young. Her sister, my Mother is now 97 years old!
ReplyDeleteMaryanne,
ReplyDeleteOkay, you are Leonella's cousin. You will then, remember the names of the last two McAuliffes at Hilton Lane. I remember there were two bungalows, one at the corner and the next. In around 1980 I know Miss McAulliffe (she was my teacher in 1955) was living at the second bungalow, the corner one having been disposed of and perhaps, demolished. The reason is my blog has a few graves with initials so it would help identify them.
