In Lucknow, as in other parts of the world, graves mean little to some people, but a search on the internet proves otherwise! What one will find on this blog isn't even 'a drop in the vast ocean' of tears that would have been shed if it were possible to calculate. The names, the sad poetry, quotes and expression of grief of the loved ones all being ground to dust.

Emily Hewitt died 1888
Sacred to the Memory of EMILY WIFE OF JAMES CLAN HEWITT COMMISSARIAT DEPT DIED 10TH JUNE 1888 AGED 34 YEARS

Emily Hewitt nee Simpson born 31 May 1852 parents George Simpson private in HMS 82nd Regiment and Elizabeth ? sister to Elizabeth Simpson who married George Robert Buttress whose mother was Eliza Bonnar sister to William Bonnar. Emily's parents both died in 1861 leaving Emily and her siblings as orphans. I believe they went to the Lower Ophanage possibly in Sanawar, Bengal, India. Emily married 3 times. !st marriage was to an Alfred Revertest on 9 Jun 1869 at Sanawar, she was 17 he died in 1878 there appear to of been no children. She then married Felix John Quieros on 21 Oct 1879 in Calcutta aged 27 she had two children by him. Felix died in 1884. She married for the last time on 21 Jul 1887 at Frot William, Bengal to Clan James Hewitt. She died shortly after giving birth to their son William Robert Hewitt.
Hi Kerry, I came across you comment and thought I'd not seen it so I went to Felix Q's grave only to find I had responded. However, you did not mention your relationship to Emily, will you!? Still thanks for the information George Shepherd
