JOACHIM NICHOLAS POGOSE BARRISTER-AT-LAW BORN 20TH SEPTEMBER 1855 AND HE WAS NOT, FOR GOD TOOK HIM GENESIS V.:24 DIED 20TH OCTOBER 1907 HONOUR AND POWER AND MIGHT BE UNTO OUR GOD FOR EVER AND EVER I wasn't familiar with the name Pogose so I checked the net and found a Nicholas Joachim Pogose, son of Joachim Gregory Nicholas Pogose, an Armenian with links to Dacca (today's Dhaka in Bangladesh) a century and a half ago. JGN Pogose had opened the Pogose school that still exists! This makes one wonder whether they were related!! |
In Lucknow, as in other parts of the world, graves mean little to some people, but a search on the internet proves otherwise! What one will find on this blog isn't even 'a drop in the vast ocean' of tears that would have been shed if it were possible to calculate. The names, the sad poetry, quotes and expression of grief of the loved ones all being ground to dust. "...We always say that the history of a parish is in its graveyards..."
